Owl City is an American electronic music project that was started by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Adam Young in Owatonna, Minnesota. In 2007, Young had created the project while experimenting with music in his parents' basement. Young mainly gained recognition via a social networking website called MySpace. After releasing his first EP, Of June (2007) and his first album, Maybe I'm Dreaming (2008), he signed a deal with record label Universal Republic Records (now Republic Records), in 2008.

His 2009 album Ocean Eyes gained mainstream popularity which includes the six-times Platinum single, "Fireflies". He then went on to release five albums after the release of Ocean Eyes, which include All Things Bright and Beautiful (2011), The Midsummer Station (2012), Mobile Orchestra (2015), Cinematic (2018), and Coco Moon (2023). He has also created several sound-tracks for animated films which include: Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, Wreck-It Ralph, The Croods and The Smurfs 2. Young has also recorded several singles which have topped several charts, most notably of them are: "Fireflies" and "Good Time".
